Rajkot: A shocking case of sexual assault and domestic abuse has come to light in the city’s Upal Kantha area, after a 19-year-old Hindu woman filed a complaint at Thorala police station against her husband and brother-in-law.
According to the complaint, the woman, who had a love marriage with a Muslim man despite her family’s opposition, alleges that her brother-in-law repeatedly raped her over the past year. The abuse allegedly occurred whenever her husband was away for work. However, according to the woman, when she raised the issue with her husband, he allegedly dismissed her concerns, telling her, “This is how it is in our family,” effectively allowing the abuse to continue.
The woman, who already has a seven-month-old child with her husband, is reportedly three months pregnant. She stated that the brother-in-law began harassing her shortly after she moved into her husband’s home. Despite her attempts to alert her husband, she alleges he remained a silent witness while the abuse persisted.
Following the complaint, Thorala Police have registered a case and taken both the husband and the brother-in-law into custody for questioning. DeshGujarat
