21 construction sites fined in Ahmedabad for violating AQI norms
December 04, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a total fine of ₹9.75 lakh on multiple ongoing construction sites across the city for violating environmental norms under the Good Construction Practices Policy, after air quality sensors installed at the sites recorded AQI levels beyond the permissible limit.
According to AMC’s Town Development Office, all construction sites within city limits are required to follow mandatory environmental safeguards to control dust and maintain air quality. During inspections, officials found that 21 construction sites exceeded the Maximum Tolerable Limit for AQI, indicating poor dust control and non-compliance with the guidelines.
As a result, AMC has levied penalties on the violating sites and instructed builders to immediately take corrective measures to bring AQI levels back within the safe limit. The corporation stated that it will continue stringent monitoring to ensure strict adherence to the Good Construction Practices Policy.
