Vadodara: In a major operation, Vadodara Railway Police today rescued 11 children from a train following intelligence that children were allegedly being trafficked from various areas of Katia district in Bihar. A total of 18 people, including the 11 minors, were rescued and are now being questioned for a detailed probe into the suspected child trafficking.

ACP of GRP Vadodara Division, G. S. Baria, said the rescue was carried out based on information received from a Child Welfare organization about possible trafficking. Out of the 18 people, seven are adults and 11 are minors.

During initial questioning, the children claimed that they had booked the train tickets themselves and were traveling to Surat to meet their parents.

The police are now recording separate statements from each child to determine whether they were victims of any illegal trafficking racket. The Railway Police, in coordination with the Child Welfare Department, is continuing its investigation and taking necessary action against any potential human trafficking network involving women and children.
