Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) inked two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for strengthening public health services.

Under the first CSR project, a Centre of Excellence for Vision Therapy and Low Vision Therapy will be established at Nagri Ankh Hospital in Ahmedabad. The centre will offer advanced vision therapy for children suffering from binocular vision disorders, along with comprehensive low-vision rehabilitation services for partially sighted children, adults and senior citizens.

The facility aims to provide affordable, accessible and comprehensive vision rehabilitation services within a government hospital setup. Once operational, it is expected to become a unique government-level centre in Gujarat offering complete vision and low-vision therapy services. The centre will also serve as a hub for training, research and skill development for optometry students, researchers and fellows.

Under the second CSR project, IOCL will provide financial assistance to LG Hospital for procuring advanced medical equipment such as a Pleuroscope. The equipment will help in the accurate diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of pleural diseases.

The introduction of the Pleuroscope is expected to result in better diagnostic accuracy, faster recovery and improved patient outcomes. As a tertiary care teaching hospital, LG Hospital will also benefit through enhanced practical training and clinical skill development opportunities for doctors, specialists and medical students.

AMC stated that both CSR initiatives underline its commitment to inclusive healthcare, public-private partnerships and quality medical services for all citizens.
