KFC, McDonald’s, Fashion Factory among outlets sealed by AMC

Ahmedabad: As part of an ongoing enforcement drive against littering and the use, sale and storage of banned plastic, the Solid Waste Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken strict action across multiple zones of the city, officials said.
During inspections of 234 establishments in the West Zone, AMC teams issued notices to 144 units for violations and recovered penalties amounting to ₹2.75 lakh. Six units in the Motera area, including McDonald’s, KFC, Fashion Factory, Adrian Tony, Wake Fit and Biba Fashion, were sealed for littering on public roads.
In the Thaltej ward of the North-West Zone, two pan parlours, Krishna Pan Parlour and Prakash Pan Parlour in Bodakdev, were sealed for littering, with penalties imposed. Overall, the department reported that fines totalling ₹2,75,950 were collected from actions taken in this zone.
In the East Zone, authorities took action against 265 units for public littering, sealing four of them and collecting fines totalling ₹82,000.
Officials further said that 2.5 kilograms of prohibited plastic material was seized from establishments found using, selling or storing banned plastic, and an additional fine of ₹22,500 was imposed on violators.
Meanwhile, in the Sabarmati ward, a construction site for an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) housing project was sealed for littering on a public road. Authorities imposed a penalty of ₹2 lakh in this case.
AMC officials stated that the enforcement drive will continue in the coming days to ensure cleanliness, curb the use of banned plastic and maintain public hygiene across the city. DeshGujarat
