AMC to set up fire station every 10 km, clears recruitment of 200 fire personnel
January 08, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has planned to establish a fire station at every 10-kilometre radius across the city to strengthen emergency response systems. As part of this plan, three new fire stations have been constructed in Sardarnagar, Hathijan and Ranip, which will be inaugurated in the near future, Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani said today.
Approval has also been granted by the Standing Committee for the recruitment of around 200 personnel, including Fire Officers, Additional Fire Officers and Firemen, he added.
Dani further said the move will significantly improve response time, especially in cases of accidents or fire incidents at high-rise buildings under construction in the city. With fire stations located closer to vulnerable areas, fire personnel will be able to reach emergency sites swiftly and effectively.
He further stated that since the e-governance department of the AMC functions directly under the Standing Committee, a new E-Governance Committee and Electric and Material Procurement Committee has been formed. Approval for the same will be obtained from the AMC Board and subsequently forwarded to the state government for final clearance. DeshGujarat
