Vadodara: The city witnessed a shocking incident of gang rape on Thursday when a 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by two men in the Fatehgunj area. The accused, identified as Harshit Makwana and Happy, reportedly held the minor captive for nearly three hours and raped her in turns before fleeing the scene. Police have arrested both men following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother at the Fatehgunj Police Station.
According to the details, the victim, a native of Uttar Pradesh visiting relatives in Vadodara, was misled by the accused, who told her that her family was calling her. Later, they took her to a nearby room, locked the door from inside, and committed the crime. When a neighbour heard her screams and raised an alarm, the men fled from the spot. She was later rescued and shifted to SSG Hospital for medical examination. Upon learning about the incident, community members rushed to the hospital in large numbers, demanding strict action against the culprits.
Family members and community leaders alleged that the police initially refused to register the complaint. The victim’s father stated that his wife had approached the police earlier in the day, but the officers did not take her seriously. “Only when I arrived with a few others did they finally write down our complaint. We demand the harshest punishment for the accused,” he said.
Senior officers, including DCP Zone-1 Jagdish Chavda, arrived at the hospital late at night to assess the situation. Chavda confirmed that two suspects, aged 19 and 20, had been booked under relevant sections and taken into custody. “Separate police teams were formed, and both accused were arrested within hours,” he said. As of now, Section 376 of the IPC has been invoked against the accused, and other sections will be added as the probe proceeds, he added. The further investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
