Ahmedabad: A video allegedly showing the disrespect of the national flag at a traffic circle in the Saraspur area of the city has gone viral on social media, raising serious questions over civic vigilance.

The video shows liquor bottles hanging from statues installed at Haribhai Godani Circle, located on a busy public road. The visuals also indicate that a broom was placed on the national flag, while another flag was installed at the site.

Upon noticing the viral video, the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the North Zone immediately directed his department to take action. A team from the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) rushed to the spot and removed the liquor bottles, broom and other objectionable materials from the statues and surrounding area.

It is learnt that the act may have been carried out by an unidentified individual, possibly a mentally unstable person. However, authorities said further verification is underway.

AMC officials confirmed that prompt action was taken and the area has now been fully cleaned. Police are expected to conduct further inquiries to identify the person responsible. DeshGujarat
