AMC installs sound systems at seven crematoriums in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Under the budget allocated by Mayor Pratibhaben Jain, the installation of sound systems at seven crematoriums across the city has been completed by the Light Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the civic body said today.
The project has been carried out at a total cost of Rs 25 lakh under the 2024–25 budget. The facilities have been set up at Ellisbridge, Dudheshwar, Leelanagar, Thaltej, Chamunda, Vejalpur and Sarkhej crematoriums.
As per the AMC, the initiative aims to provide a calm and dignified atmosphere for families performing last rites. The civic body stated that all installations are now operational. With devotional bhajans played through the new sound systems, the final farewell becomes more peaceful and spiritual, offering solace to grieving families and fostering a serene environment in keeping with religious beliefs.
