Stray dog menace: 3.5-year-old child gets over 30 stitches in attack in Surat

Surat: Once again, the city of Surat witnessed a terrifying incident involving stray dogs, as a three-and-a-half-year-old child was brutally attacked by a pack of dogs at Valak Patiya in the Laskana area today.

As per the details, Ganesh, son of Himal Bayak, who works as a watchman at Karunesh Home Green Valley and resides on the premises, was playing near his house when four to five stray dogs suddenly attacked him, biting him on the head and other parts of the body. The child was left severely injured and bleeding.

Hearing the child’s screams, people nearby rushed to the spot, chased away the dogs, and rescued him from further attack. The injured child was first taken to a nearby private hospital for immediate treatment and was later shifted to New Civil Hospital for advanced medical care.

Doctors said the child sustained multiple bite wounds on his head and body and required 30 to 35 stitches. He is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition is being closely monitored.

Meanwhile, the incident has once again raised serious concerns over the stray dog menace in Surat. Although the municipal administration had earlier initiated measures such as creating designated dog-feeding spots following a series of similar attacks, residents alleged that effective action later came to a standstill, leading to repeated incidents involving innocent children.
