Surat City Bus service extended to Palanpur area; new route launched

Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run city bus service has reached the Palanpur area with the launch of a new route.

Following a joint representation by MLA Sandeep Desai and local corporators, the SMC has extended city bus connectivity to L.P. Savani School and Shree Jalaram International School in the Palanpur area of Ward-9 (Rander–Jahangirabad–Palanpur) in the Choryasi Assembly constituency.

The extended City Bus Route No. 117, connecting Surat Railway Station Terminal to Palanpur Gam, was inaugurated today near Shree Jalaram International School in Palanpur. With the start of this route, residents, traders, and working professionals in the area will gain direct public transport connectivity to Surat Railway Station. Citizens have been urged to make maximum use of the newly extended service.

The launch took place in the presence of SMC Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel, MLA Sandeep Desai, Public Transport Committee Chairman Somnath Marathe, and Ward-9 corporators Nancy Shah, Gauri Sapariya, and Krunal Seler, along with party representatives, local leaders, and residents.

Notably, the civic body provides public transport through its BRTS and city bus network across the city and adjoining areas. The system operates 367 BRTS buses on 13 routes along India’s longest 108-km dedicated BRTS corridor, while 387 city buses run on 45 routes covering a total distance of 452 km. More than two lakh passengers use these services daily.
