AMC fines consultant for bidder eligibility error in ₹49-crore WTP tender
February 10, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a ₹5 lakh penalty on its consultant, Multimedia Consultant Pvt. Ltd., for wrongly qualifying a bidder in the ₹49-crore tender to set up a 100-MLD water treatment plant. The issue was discussed during the water and sewerage committee meeting on Monday.
The consultant, responsible for preparing and processing the tender for an additional 100-MLD facility at the Raska Water Treatment Plant, had cleared five firms in the technical evaluation. However, one company, Skyway Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. was later found to lack the mandatory experience in constructing water treatment plants. Despite this, it emerged as the lowest bidder after financial bids were opened.
Subsequent scrutiny revealed the consultant had mistakenly treated the firm’s sewage treatment plant (STP) experience as equivalent to water treatment plant (WTP) experience, violating tender norms. The consultant later admitted the error in writing, following which the AMC imposed the ₹5 lakh fine. DeshGujarat
