February 20, 2026
Anand: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday trapped a Revenue Talati and his accomplice for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Anand district.
According to the ACB, the case pertains to an inheritance entry related to jointly owned ancestral land at Bakrol. The entry in the name of the complainant’s father and other family members had been rejected, necessitating an appeal to restore the registration.
It is alleged that the accused Revenue Talati, Gaurav Rajput, posted at the Mamlatdar office in Anand Rural, initially demanded a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh for processing the appeal. Of this amount, Rs 30,000 was allegedly paid earlier through Google Pay to initiate the process. Subsequently, an additional Rs 10,000 was demanded from the complainant.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Anand ACB. Based on the complaint, a trap was laid on February 20, 2026, in the presence of independent witnesses.
During the trap, the accused Talati allegedly instructed the complainant to hand over the bribe amount to his aide, Badruddin Sharfubhai Malek. Malek allegedly accepted Rs 10,000 near a tea stall on a public road outside the Anand District Seva Sadan office. The ACB team apprehended both accused and recovered the bribe amount from the spot.
