March 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat is experiencing rising temperatures and dry weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting hot and humid conditions in coastal areas over the next three days. The weather department said discomfort due to humid air is likely to prevail in parts of coastal Gujarat and Saurashtra–Kutch from March 4 to March 6, while the rest of the state is expected to witness dry weather.
According to the latest IMD bulletin issued this noon, maximum temperatures increased appreciably in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra–Kutch, while other regions saw no significant change. Temperatures remained above normal to markedly above normal in parts of North Gujarat and Kutch, and above normal in several parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra.
The highest maximum temperature in the state on Tuesday was recorded at Deesa at 38.4°C, while Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15°C.
Several major cities reported temperatures close to or above 37–38°C, indicating early summer-like conditions at the beginning of March. Ahmedabad and Rajkot both recorded 38°C, while Vadodara recorded 37.4°C and Surat 36.4°C. In Kutch, Bhuj reported 37°C, while coastal stations such as Daman and Veraval remained relatively cooler due to sea influence.
Meteorologists said north-westerly to northerly winds are prevailing at lower levels across the region, and an earlier upper cyclonic circulation over Gujarat has now weakened.
The IMD has forecast no major change in maximum or minimum temperatures across Gujarat during the next seven days. Dry weather is expected to continue across all districts of Gujarat, Saurashtra–Kutch and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli until March 11.
For Ahmedabad and adjoining areas, the weather department has predicted a mainly clear sky, with the maximum temperature likely to touch around 39°C and the minimum around 20°C by Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the IMD has advised residents in coastal areas to remain cautious of discomfort caused by hot and humid conditions during the next three days, particularly during afternoon hours. DeshGujarat
