8 Gujarat Cities Among Top 10 Hottest in India; Rajkot Hottest in State
March 12, 2026
Ahmedabad: Several cities in Gujarat figured among the top 10 hottest places in the country on March 11, 2026, as heat wave conditions intensified across western India, according to the latest temperature data released by the India Meteorological Department.
While Nandurbar (42.4°C) in Madhya Maharashtra recorded the highest temperature in the country, Vallabh Vidyanagar in Gujarat ranked second with 42.3°C, followed by Rajkot at 41.9°C, making it one of the hottest locations in the Saurashtra–Kutch region.
Multiple Gujarat cities dominated the top-10 list. Vadodara (41.6°C), Surendranagar (41.5°C), Ahmedabad (41.4°C), Surat (41.0°C), Keshod (40.7°C), and Deesa (40.7°C) all recorded temperatures well above normal, indicating severe heat conditions across the state.
Meteorological data shows that most of these cities reported departures of 6°C to 9°C above normal, with severe heat wave conditions at several pockets.
The widespread rise in temperature across the Gujarat Region and Saurashtra–Kutch subdivision suggests that the ongoing heat spell is strengthening, with inland areas heating up rapidly due to dry winds and clear skies.
Weather officials have warned that heat wave conditions may persist for the next few days, and people have been advised to avoid direct sun exposure during afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses. DeshGujarat
