Akasa Air Announces Fuel Surcharge After Air India, IndiGo Amid ATF Price Surge
March 14, 2026
New Delhi: After Air India and IndiGo, Akasa Air has also announced that it will be charging a fuel surcharge on its flights following a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
In a press statement, the airline said there has been a significant increase in the price of aviation turbine fuel due to evolving geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which has raised operating costs across the aviation industry, as fuel accounts for a major share of airline expenses.
Akasa Air said it will introduce a fuel surcharge ranging from ₹199 to ₹1300 on both domestic and international routes. The surcharge will be applicable on all bookings made from 00:01 hrs on March 15, 2026, while tickets booked before this time will not be affected.
According to the airline, the fuel surcharge will be applied per sector and will vary depending on the duration of the flight.
The airline stated that despite the increase in operating costs, it remains committed to providing reliable operations, warm customer service, and affordable fares while maintaining high standards of efficiency. Akasa Air added that it will continue to closely monitor the operating environment and review the fuel surcharge periodically. DeshGujarat
