Ahmedabad Jamnagar Limited’s 21st board meeting was held today . The important decisions taken in the meeting are following:

At present BRTS is functional in 44.5 km stretch. By 31st of December this year following routes will be added to BRTS.

-Shivranjani to Iskcon – 3.5 km
-AEC to Sola – 3.0 km
-RTO to Visat – 3.0 km
-Soni ni chali to Odhav – 3.5 km

Thus total route will be at around 57 km by the end of this year.

The next phase will be taken up between 1st January 2012 and 31st of March 2012.

It will add following routes to existing network:

-Iskcon to Bopal – 2.9 km
-Visat to Chandkheda – 3.0 km
-Ellis bridge to Astodia – 2.0 km
-Astodia to Shahalam – 2.0 km

Thus total 65.0 km routes will be added.

Under JnNURM project total 730 buses are approved for Ahmedabad. Of them 605 buses were ordered while for the rest of the buses, tender process is on. Among these 605 buses, Tata Motors will proved 310 buses while Ashok Leyland will provide 295 buses. 35 of the buses will be run for BRTS while other will work as feeder bus service.

Smart card service for Ahmedabad Janmarg ltd will be started by Diwali this year. After the launch of this service, the passengers will get relief from buying tickers everyday and managing chhutta paisa for that.
