22 Gujarat Fishermen Repatriated from Pakistan Jails in Two Years; 200 Still Lodged: Govt

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today informed the State Assembly that a total of 22 Gujarati fishermen lodged in Pakistan jails were released over the past two years.
According to the details, 22 fishermen were released during the period from February 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. No releases were recorded during the period from February 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
Furthermore, as of January 31, 2026, around 200 Gujarati fishermen are still lodged in Pakistan jails.
The data also revealed fatalities among Gujarat fishermen in Pakistan custody. Two fishermen died between February 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025, while one death was reported in the period from February 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. DeshGujarat
