Senior AMC Corporator Quits Congress

Ahmedabad: Senior Congress corporator Iqbal Shaikh has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party, submitting his resignation letter to Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda.

In his letter, Shaikh stated that he has been winning elections for the past 25 years along with the entire Congress panel from Gomtipur ward. However, he alleged that during every Municipal Corporation election, his name is withheld until the last moment.

He claimed that he has been deliberately ignored and mentally harassed within the party.

Shaikh further clarified that he does not wish to seek candidature from Gomtipur ward under the Congress party’s banner in the upcoming municipal elections.

It is learnt that Shaikh may contest from Owaisi led AIMIM. DeshGujarat
