Ahmedabad: A passenger has alleged finding insects in food served onboard a Vande Bharat Express travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, raising fresh concerns over catering standards on premium trains.
In a post on social media, user Aditya Didwania claimed that at least two such instances were reported in his coach, prompting passengers to stop eating the meals served. He identified the catering vendor as M/s Brandavan Food Products, part of the RK Group.
Tagging authorities including the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Ministry of Railways, and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, the passenger urged immediate action against the vendor.

He further called for an inspection of the food preparation process, alleging that standards laid down by the FSSAI may not have been followed. The passenger also demanded strict action, including cancellation of the vendor’s licence if violations are confirmed.
Meanwhile, IRCTC responded to the complaint on social media, stating, “Sir, inconvenience is regretted. The matter has been taken up and apprised to the concerned official for immediate necessary action.”
