BJP to Stage Protest Outside Congress Office in Delhi Over Kharge’s Remark on Gujaratis

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a massive protest in the national capital on April 8, 2026, against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged derogatory remarks about Gujaratis.

The ‘Vishal Dharna Pradarshan’ will be held at around 10:30 am tomorrow outside the Congress national office on Akbar Road in New Delhi. BJP leaders and supporters have urged people to gather in large numbers to condemn the statement.

The controversy stems from Kharge’s recent speech in Kerala, where he said that BJP leaders could “fool people who are illiterate in Gujarat,” a comment that has sparked widespread outrage and political backlash in the state.

In his speech in Kerala, Kharge said, “Don’t misguide the people of Keralam. They are very clever, they are educated. Modi ji, Vijay, you both can fool people who are illiterate in Gujarat or in other places, but you can’t fool Keralam people…”

Calling the remarks an insult to the people of Gujarat, BJP leaders have demanded an unconditional apology from Kharge.

The issue has escalated political tensions ahead of upcoming local elections in Gujarat. DeshGujarat
