Chorwad , 1 December, 2011

Mother figure of India’s no. 1 corporate family and Smt Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani is on two-day visit to Chorwad in Gujarat to provide her guidence for a new museum being built here in memory of late Shri Dhirubhai Ambaji. Kokilaben is also supervising the renovation work of late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s original house here.

It was year 2006 when Ambanis took possession of late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s old house from one Sheth family.

According to sources, Kokilaben wishes that future generations of Ambanis pay regular visits to this house in Chorwad to remember the humble beginnings of their forefathers.

There is a lot of sentimental value attached to this house in Chorwad as a portion of the house was taken on rent from the Sheths by Hirachandbhai Ambani, the father of late Dhirubhai.

The founder of the mammoth Reliance empire stayed here in his formative years before moving overseas to Aden where he found work in a petroleum company.

According to sources, a part of the house is being renovated in such a way that its original structure remains intact. The other part is being converted into a museum.

Kokilaben arrived yesterday at Veraval by helicopter and immediately left for Chorwad by road. She was welcomed heartily by villagers at Chorwad. Kokilaben will visit Shri Somnath mandir on 2nd December and will leave for Mumbai.

The villagers are excited about Kokilaben’s visit and development of late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s house and museum.
