Dahod, 22 September 2012
Former BJP MLA of Limkheda Babubhai Bhabhor today joined the Congress party in presence of leader of opposition Shri Shaktisinh Gohil.
Bhabhor was elected as Limkheda (BJP) MLA during the 2002 assembly polls. In 2007 Chandrakaben Bariya of the Congress defeated him in assembly polls. Bhabhor was again a BJP candidate at that time. Bhabhor has been in politics for over 10 years. In early days of his career he contested for the Dahod district panchayat polls which he lost.
Bhabhor faced allegations of booth capturing during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission had to cancel polling conducted in booth number 148 at Dabhda-2 in Limkheda assembly segment of Dahod parliamentary constituency and re-polling was ordered after Bhabhor allegedly entered the polling booth along with about 15 of his supporters towards the end of the time for polling. Bhabhor was also allegedly involved in a Prohibition case.
Bhabhor’s name surfaced in the murder case of Limkheda taluka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secretary Ramanlal Baria in 2009. The wife of deceased, Leela Baria had accepted the charge and admitted to have an affair with Bhabhor as per the reports widely published at that time. (more on this)
