Gujarat Congress’s Jal Adhikar Yatra, Modhwadia announces Civil disobedience against new Irrigation law

Gujarat Congress’s Jal Adhikar Yatra concluded today at north Gujarat’s Ambaji after exploring 10 district and covering 1267 km route in 12 days.

Addressing a gathering here, Gujarat Congress President Shri Arjun Modhwadia said that Congress leaders would do civil disobedience against state government’s new irrigation law. Modhwadia described new law as black law. Modhwadia complained that number of villages in Gujarat today are supplied water once every two to twelve days.Modhwadia thanked all those who extended help during Jal Adhikar Yatra, and said that Narmada dam has enough water, but due to government’s bad management, drinking water and irrigation water is not available.

Speaking at the public meeting, leader of opposition Shankersinh Vaghela said that ground water are down to 799 ft from earlier level of 400 ft.

Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil said that on one hand there’s water and fodder shortage and on the other hand Gujarat govt has imposed power tariff hike in the state. While industrialists are supplied crores of liter water for free, common man is not supplied drinking water. While Gujarat Congress went to the people on the issue of water shortage, the BJP leaders are not able to find water problem after elected to power.
