CM approves new Garudeshwar taluka

To decentralize the administration and to make availability of government schemes to people from nearer taluka center, the state government has adopted approach of decentralized planning. The state government has announced 23 new talukas in September 2013 adopting same approach.

Around 100 farmers, sarpanchs, local leaders with MLA Shabdasharanbhai Tadvi recently visited capital Gandhinagar and made representation before ministers Nitinbhai Patel, Anandiben Patel and Ganpat Vasava majorly on three demands.

-New Garudeshwar taluka should be carved out of present Nandod taluka.

-Solution of years old issues related to people who were relocated due to Narmada dam.

-Cancellation of KADA in Nandod taluka.

-Irrigation water supply to farmers of this area through Narmada canal.

After consultation with concerned officials, the ministers submitted a report to Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister has approved formation of Garudeshwar taluka.

According to minister Shri Nitin Patel, Garudeshwar taluka will have 94 villages with population of 88,191 as per census 2011.

A decision to cancel the Kevadia Area Development Authority(KADA) has also been taken considering representation of local farmers. The Chief Minister has also given consent for additional irrigation water supply from Narmada main canal to farmers of this area. Chief Minister has also approved a package to solve years old issue of land acquisition in 6 villages.

The state government has also approved a package for farmers whose land will submerge due to construction of Garudeshwar vier.
