After his release, retired IPS DG Vanzara today addressed a press conference and told media persons that there was extra legal political reason due to which policemen in Gujarat were singled out and targeted. Vanzara also said that encounters done by Gujarat police were not fake.

“There were extra legal political reasons for which Gujarat police was targeted and it pains me a lot. Gujarat Police was singled out deliberately for political reasons. It’s Hindustan’s politics that is responsible for this episode. If there was no politics innovated, actions would have been uniformly taken without different treatment between force and force, man and man, institution and institution, state and state. When one state is singled out, it smells conspiracy,” Vanzara said.

He said out of 28 states, only Gujarat Police was targeted and added that he doesn’t want to make a point that police force of other states should also be targeted.

In reply to a question Vanzara said he could feel bad about his jail term if he had committed any wrong thing and landed in jail. Vanzara said, “we are police officers. We need to take action for nation’s unity, integrity, sovereignty when necessary. If Police had not done its duty, there could be two Kashmir and not one in this nation.”

He added, “these days we observe that dead bodies of jawans reach to various states from Kashmir. Gujarat could be in same situation, if Gujarat Police had not performed its duty in limits of CRPC provisions, police manual and constitutional provisions.”

When asked whether he would join politics, Shri Vanzara said politics is everywhere from birth of child to his death and even after that. He said he is not political person, he is a soldier. Rajniti he said is after all a part of rashtraniti and he is a man of rashtraniti. He said he is not going to join politics

Dressed in saffron jacket, Vanzara who was sitting with anti-terror organization head Bitta said that the entire world is fighting against terrorism. Government, forces, people are taking action against terrorism. He was just one of them.

Vanzara said he has got justice by judiciary without intervention of anyone else.

When asked whether the encounters were fake, Vanzara said, “normally a case is registered, investigation is carried out, evidences are collected and charges are framed in such cases, but that is not the end of story. If this much are enough to prove anyone guilty, why judiciary is there? An accused not proven guilty is innocent. The case is subjuidice and I don’t want to give my commentary on that, but I want to say that it is my legal stand that encounters were not fake, but the case was fake, the investigation was fake. Our actions were genuine.”

In reply to other question, Vanzara said morale of not just Gujarat police, but entire police force, para military and military force is down due to the encounter cases against police officers of Gujarat. He said, “in past one news would travel from one part of the country to other part of the country in six months time. But today due to electronic media, news travel speedily across the country. All forces in uniform have been impacted by the actions against cops in Gujarat.”

Media persons repeatedly asked Vanzara about a letter he had written more than a year ago expressing frustration. Vanzara however every-time in his reply said that he lives in present time and not in past or in future.

Vanzara who came out from jail today after granted bail in two encounter cases by CBI courts in Ahmeabad and Mumbai was welcomed with garland and slogans by his family, friends and large number of his supporters mainly from Vanzara community.
