Fifth round of unseasonal rain this year in Gujarat

Areas of Gujarat today witnessed fifth round of unseasonal showers today this year.

Primary reports suggest the entire north Gujarat including Mahesana, Diyodar, Unjha, Visnagar, Deesa, Dhanera, Ambaji etc places has experienced light to moderate shower and even hailstorm at some places.

The city of Ahmedabad against witnessed unseasonal rain this year today. The sky was normal with presence of scorching sun during early afternoon, but post 4.00 pm the sky was suddenly seen full of dark clouds and at around 5.00 pm, parts of Ahmedabad city experienced light shower.

According to Shri Jayant Sarkar who is heading Ahmedabad office of Weather department, isolated places of Gujarat will continue to witness light rainfall due to impact of western disturbances on 12-13 April too.

Sarkar has predicted earlier spells of unseasonal rains in recent past correctly. He had also predicted present round of shower.

Frequent rounds of unseasonal rains prove dangerous for standing crops, and even produce ready to go to APMC.

In present calendar year, unseasonal rains were first experienced on 21 January followed by another spell on 1 March(continued for two-three days) and one more round on 12 March. The fourth round of unseasonal shower this year was experienced during 29-30 March.

Weather experts describe it as effect of ‘western disturbances’, which is one of two terminologies they often use. The other terminology they use on occasions is ‘Upper air cyclonic circulation’.
