Shankarbhai Chaudhary becomes new Chairman of Banas dairy,reduces Ghee price

Minister of State, Department of Health, Government of Gujarat and BJP MLA Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary has been unopposed elected as Chairman of Banas dairy in north Gujarat. Deesa Market Yard Chairman Shri Mavjibhai Desai has been elected Vice Chairman unopposed.
Shri Chaudhary after taking top position in Banas dairy paid tribute to founder of the dairy Shri Galbabhai Chaudhary by offering garland to his statue. Shri Chaudhary also worshiped cow in dairy campus. Shri Chaudhary thanked board of directors and milk producers for his unopposed election.
Shri Chaudhary announced Rs 40/kg cut in Ghee prices and said this price cut in branded product will help consumers.
Election for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman was held today after recently concluded elections that Shankarbhai Chaudhary led panel won with 2/3rd majority.
Change in power after 24 years
Minister of State and BJP MLA Shankar Chaudhary led panel won Banas dairy election early this month. Chanduary won 8 seats while rival Bhatol who controls Banas dairy for last 24 years saw victory of his only 3 candidate. Polling was to be held for 14 seats. However Shankar Chaudhary himself(Radhanpur seat) and two others were elected unopposed. One of them Joitaram Patel(Dhanera), MLA of Dhanera assembly seat was Bhatol supporter while other victorious candidate unopposed former DySP PJ Chaudhary(Dantiwada) had declared support to Shankar Chaudhary. Polling for Banas Dairy election was held in 11 talukas, mostly at Mamlatdar offices. It was a matter of surprise that 100% polling was registered in this election. There were total 1057 voters(Vadgam 119, Danta 87, Palanpur 143, Amirgadh 35, Deesa 173, Tharad 123, Vav 103, Bhabhar 42, Diodar 77, Kankrej 108, Santalpur 47).
Asia’s no.1 dairy
Banas Dairy(Banaskantha District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union) provides employment to over 3 lakh people in Banaskantha district. It has claimed to have become the number one highest daily milk producing co-operative dairy in whole Asia with highest liters/day production.
Banas Dairy was established by Galbabhai Nanjibhai Chaudhary who through his hard work continued the functioning of dairy even during the time of severe water scarcity in north Gujarat. The dairy now involves Rs 5,000 crore management.
Banas Dairy collects an average of around 35 lakh liters of milk everyday.
Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited known as Banas Dairy is a cooperative organization established in the year 1969 under the Gujarat Co-operative societies Act 1961 with the support of NDDB as a part of their Operation Flood Program launched to bring about white revolution in the country.
Banas manufactures a large number of dairy products under AMUL, SAGAR and BANAS brands. It’s product range includes Amul Pasteurised Milks, Amul longer Shelf Life Milk, Amul Butter, Amul Ghee, Sagar Ghee, Amulya Powder, Sagar Tea and Coffee Whitener, Sagar SMP, Amul SMP, Amul Shakti Powder, a wide range of Amul Ice Creams, Banas Penda, Banas Tea etc. The products of dairy are marketed through Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Anand. Banas also provides large number of technical inputs to over 1.8 lac farmer households, organised through 1400 odd Village level Cooperative Milk Societies.
