Ahmedabad: The National Green Tribunal (West Zone) has dismissed appeals by 337 ceramic units from Morbi and Wankaner against payment of ₹122.05 crore as Environmental Damage Compensation (EDC) for using banned coal gasifiers. Gandhinagar: In a significant relief to the ceramic industry, the Gujarat government has announced a reduction in natural gas prices for ceramic units located in Morbi and Thangadh–Surendranagar. As per the decision, Gujarat Gas Limited has reduced the price of natural gas supplied to ceramic units operating under the Minimum Guarantee Offtake (MGO) agreement by Rs. 4.50 per cubic meter. Closure Notices Issued to Seven Ceramic Factories in Morbi for Using Banned Petcoke

Morbi: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has issued closure notices to seven ceramic factories in Morbi district after finding them using banned petroleum coke (petcoke) during surprise inspections. Heavy fines have also been imposed on the erring units. According to officials, intensive checks were carried out three days ago at 15 ceramic factories.
