GUVNL starts operation of two units of power plants at Sikka

Jamnagar: Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has started operations of both 500-megawatt plants by sourcing foreign coal as fuel, at Sikka in Jamnagar. While power demand is growing unexpectedly amid summer this year this added generation of power is important. GUVNL has ordered 12 lakh metric tons of foreign coal for these plants. Sikka thermal power plant shuts due to lack of coal

Jamnagar: The thermal power station in Sikka run by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSEC) will possibly remain shut till Diwali due to the shortage of coal, it is learnt. The thermal power station with capacity of electricity production of 9 thousand megawatt per day in Sikka has shut down for the last one month due to the shortage of coal.
