High Court rejects Teesta’s plea for quashing of the FIR against her
Ahmedabad, 27 May, 2011
Gujarat High Court today rejected controversial foreign funded NGO operator Teesta (Javed) Setalvad’s plea for quashing of the FIR against her in the 2006 Pandarwada case in which bodies of post-Godhra riot victims were exhumed four years after they were buried by district administration. However summon to Teesta by Sessions court was canceled by Gujarat HC due to technical reasons.
As no relief from the High Court, Teesta would now suitable to be grilled by Lunawada Police in Pandarwada case. However it is most likely that she would approach the Supreme Court.
Justice GB Shah had earlier reserved the order on Teesta’s petition for May 27.
Opposing Teesta’s plea, government pleader PK Jani had earlier contended that investigation was still on in the case with regard to Teesta, who was not cooperating with the investigating agencies.
