Centre approves renaming of Majadar village as Kagdham as tribute to great poet Dula Bhaya Kag

Union Home Ministry has approved a proposal to change the name of Majadar village in Gujarat as Kagdham. Majadar village is situated in Rajula taluka of Amreli district. According to Department of General Administration, Government of Gujarat the village has been renamed now as Kagdham, as approval of Department of Home, Government of India has arrived for the same.
One of the most famous folk litterateur/poet Kag Bapu or Dula Bhaya Kag was born in Majadar village in year 1902. The villagers of Majadar therefore wanted their village to be renamed after him. Kag Bapu passed away in 1977. He was a fifth standard pass farmer, also involved in cattle care, but his pen, especially his Kagvani, bhajan, prayers, duha, muktaks and Charni writing made him famous across the state.
Ram Kathakar Shri Morari Bapu has started an annual award named after Kag Bapu. The award is given to a Gujarati folk artist for music or literature.
