GoG to hold seminar on macroeconomic parameters and India’s Growth

The recent global recession has brought a renewed focus on the question: What finances the long term growth of an economy? What is the impact of fiscal policies on growth rate of output?

The global economic environment continues to be a matter of concern. The problems stalking the global economy are multiple and interconnected. The weakening prospects of economic revival, renewed increase in financial volatility and geopolitical risks continue to pose challenges for the emerging and developing market economies like India. In wake of such developments, the primary challenge for India is to sustain the growth and propel it further while still fulfilling its vision of inclusive growth.

The situation demands India to re-orient its macroeconomic policy and have a much more comprehensive monetary, fiscal and taxation policies to address its structural problems. The right use of fiscal and monetary policies can help encourage investment, curb inflation, boost the manufacturing sector and put India on a growth trajectory.

In wake of such issues and as a prelude to the main Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015, the Finance Department, Government of Gujarat is organizing an interactive seminar titled: “Financing for Economic Growth: A Policy Roadmap” on 25th September, 2014 in Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. The event shall see august presence of Smt. Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister, Gujarat; Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Government of Gujarat; Shri U K Sinha, Chairman, SEBI; Shri Urjit Patel, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India; Smt. Ila Patnaik, Principal Economic Advisor to the Government of India amongst others.

The event will bring together experts from business, government, and academia who will deliberate and exchange ideas for a stronger policy based on key building blocks that will drive the long term growth of India with greater productivity, stronger finances, efficient services, fair tax system and a climate conducive to investment.
