April 22, 2024
Gandhinagar: Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will not be contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Gujarat, the party announced today. Earlier, the party had announced that it would field candidates in Bharuch and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seats.
AIMIM state president Sabir Kabliwala said, “We are not contesting Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat because we were unable to win Vidhansabha seats. We need to strengthen the party first. Corporation elections are approaching, and we need to increase our seats in the corporation before preparing for the next Vidhan Sabha elections. Our party is new; it has been only 2.5 years, and it will take time to become strong.” DeshGujarat
