‘Z axis’ becomes the only start-up from Gujarat selected for ‘Make In India Week’

Z axis Unmanned Machines Pvt. Ltd., a Gujarat based manufacturer and service provider of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has earned the rare distinction of being selected to showcase their UAVs at the prestigious Make in India Week in Mumbai from 13th to 18th February. This makes ‘Z axis’ the only start-up and one of the only two companies from Gujarat to be selected to participate in the Make in India Week. ‘Z axis’ manufactured UAVs will be showcased at the Defense & Aerospace Pavilion.
Mr. Jugal Pandya,Co-Founder, Z axis Unmanned Machines said, “Our surveillance UAVs are specially designed keeping in mind the stringent demands of our armed forces, paramilitary and police forces, alongwith wide ranging applications for various government departments. Today, Aerial Surveillance plays a critical role in keeping our borders safe, maintaining internal security and in anti-terrorist / anti-insurgency operations. India so far has been importing UAVs from Israel, France and United States. We believe that pioneering the manufacturing of surveillance UAVs will help our country by cutting down costs to the tune 40% while ensuring the availability of hi-performance, international technology.”
Talking about exclusive technology that the company uses, Mr. Pavan Bakeri, Co-Founder, Z axis Unmanned Machines said, “All our products are made of carbon-fiber material to make it light weight and for long endurance. The products can be equipped with different pay-loads depending upon customized needs. As the core focus of company is to deal with different government bodies, especially defense, the company is also developing in-house software used in different UAVs in order to cut down the dependence on third party and to maintain secrecy of collected data intact.”
Discussing about market of UAV’s in India, Dr. Harmitsingh Sikh, Chief Marketing Officer, Z axis Unmanned Machines said, “In India the market size of small UAVs, which weigh not more than 50kgs, is expected to reach INR 200 crore by 2019 from INR 110 crore in 2015. This is taking into consideration 97% of defense application as of now. The civil application will vastly increase the market once the policy becomes clear and the ban is removed by DGCA.”
Founded by Mr. Jugal Pandya and Mr. Pankaj Paneria as a passion 6 years back of flying different multi-rotors and aircrafts, the founders teamed up with Mr. Pavan Bakeri to transform their passion into a viable technology-based enterprise 2 years back and incorporated Z axis Unmanned Machines Pvt. Ltd. They identified need of UAV’s in different sectors in India, and started manufacturing drones according to different needs and as per customized requirements.
