Ahmedabad: It’s Devpodhi Ekadashi today. It is believed that Bhagwan Vishnu goes to sleep today and therefore it is called Devpodhi Ekadashi. It is also called Parvati Ekadashi.

Chaturmas period(four months dedicated to bhakti) also begins today. For next four months, Jain monks and Hindu sadhus would stay at one place.

Wedding and other auspicious occasions will be possible only after Chaturmas period which shall end at Kartak sudh ekadashi(post Diwali).

Gauri Vrat begins today. It will end on Friday with Jaya Parvati Vrat beginning on Wednesday.

First major occasion during Chaturmas would be Guru Poornima which will be observed on July 19.
