CM takes guard of honour at passing out parade by 421 PSIs at Gujarat Police Academy

Gandhinagar, April 3, 2017: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani exhorted 421 unarmed Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) passing out of the Gujarat Police Academy at Karai here today to uphold the national motto of Satyameva Jayate (Truth Alone Triumphs) and perform their moral duty with the mantra of ‘Service before Self’.

Addressing the newly inducted PSIs at the grand guard of honour function, he said that ensuring the safety and security of common man, with the concept of dual entity, protecting the weak and prosecuting the law-breakers, is their foremost duty. They should ensure the goons do not override the social fabric and at the same time win the confidence of the society. It is part of their duty to leave an impression that they are the friends of the honest citizens.

With a large number of graduates, postgraduates, engineers and even a doctorate passing out as PSIs, he asked them be techno savvy, keeping in tune with the changing time, with maximum application of the social media, learning the basics from their seniors and serve the society with a firm hand, maintaining humility and conscience. The uniform of police men and women should command respect.

The Chief Minister took the guard of honour in an open jeep. He presented trophies to 12 PSIs for various feats. He also inaugurated a book describing the valour of policemen, 400-metre long synthetic track and a modern academic complex and central dining hall.

Gujarat Police Academy Director K.K. Oza presented a detailed account of the academy’s activities.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Additional Chief Secretary for Home M.S. Dagur, Director General of Police P.P. Pandey, family members of the pass-outs.
