Gujarat BJP President Shri RC Faldu and spokesperson Shri IK Jadeja today in a joint statement claimed victory of BJP on over 70% gram panchayats.
They said the results who that in rural areas, the voters are with BJP and have faith in the party.
They said the Congress party didn’t allow Samras body in many gram panchayats. Even after its negative efforts when over 2,000 panchayts were declared Samras, the Congress party started claiming that many of the Samras panchayts were secured by Congress itself.
Meanwhile as predicted, Gujarat Congress claimed that the party secured 70% gram panchayts. “In Panchayat elections, Congress has received shinning victory. More than 70% panchayts, Congress supported candidates are victorious,” Arjun Modhwadia said.
While counting of vote reached half way in the afternoon, Congress party not only claimed victory over 70% gram panchayts, but also called media persons and arranged a photo shoot of crackers busting and celebration at party offices across the state. Such photographs would go to print in tomorrow’s newspapers and Congress would successfully create an atmosphere that it has been victorious over 70% gram panchayats.
Gram panchayat polls were held by using ballet papers and not electronic voting machines. Therefore the counting was till midnight. However as Congress party started claiming victory in the afternoon itself, the BJP had to issue a release of victory in the evening.
The Election Commission of Gujarat will declare the results of 95000 elected candidates only after completion of counting process.
Gram Panchayts elections are not fought on party symbol, and the candidates for the post of Sarpanch are generally supported by the political parties.
