3,78,15,306 voters in Gujarat, 61.45% of total population:EC

There has been addition of 12,77,662 new voters in the state of Gujarat. The total number of voters in Gujarat is now 3,78,15,306. As per the census figure of 2011, Gujarat’s population in 2012 is 6.15 crore. Thus 61.45% of them are voters.

Chief Election Commissioner of Gujarat smt Anita Karwal today shared the details on this and said, “there are 3.78 crore voters in Gujarat which shows that 38.55% population is under 18.”

She said while 12,77,662 voters are added in the list, 3,75,926 are deducted. Thus total increase of 9,01,736 voters has been witnessed which is 2.44% of total voters.

Karwal said Gujarat has 44,496 polling booths, of which rural areas have 30,125 polling booths while urban areas have 14,371. These all polling centers are located at 27,049 places which consist 21,662 rural places and 5,378 urban places. The election commission has planned special arrangement at 40 places where there are less than 100 voters. Similarly 235 polling centers will serve the areas with less than 200 voters and 814 polling centers for the places with less than 300 voters.

Karwal further said that Gujarat’s 99.43 voters have EPIC card while 99.18% have photo electoral card. Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Bharuch and Ahmedabad districts have 100% photo electoral/epic cards. In Navsari only 39 voters are left without EPIC card and 63 without photo identity card. Similarly in Bhavnagar this figure is 106 and 61 while in Mehsana 74 and 53.

Karwal said the election commission would send photo voter sleeps at doorstep. Gujarat’s 99.18% voters are registered with their photographs, while other 0.82% will need to hand over their photo to booth level officers immediately.
