Four laning of Gandhinagar-Mahudi highway approved

The state government has given in-principal approval to four laning work of highway connecting capital Gandhinagar to Jain pilgrim place Mahudi.
Against the present width of 10 meter, the proposed width is 15 meter. The highway was earlier just 7 meter wide.
The project will be executed at a cost of Rs. 84 crore. The length of the highway is 35 km.
As many as 900 trees will be needed to cut to execute this Rs. 84 crore project. The forest department approval for cutting of 900 trees will be sought soon. Forest department grants permission in such cases with condition to plant and nurture two new trees against sacrifice of each tree.
