President presents GoI’s BSUP award to Ahmedabad city

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has received Government of India’s Best City Award for basic services to the urban poor(BSUP) and interest subsidy scheme for housing the urban poor(IHSDP). City municipal commissioner Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra and Mayor Mrs. Patel received the award in New Delhi from the hand of the President of India.
In response to the award, Dr. Mohapatra said that the AMC had constructed more than 20160 housing units under the BSUP scheme. Housing units made using Monolithic technology are very cost effective. More than 10,000 slum-dwellers previously living at Sabarmati river front are allotted EWS category housing units.
