Gujarat is geared-up to celebrate 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas;

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel, Gujarat as the host of the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is completely prepared to offer grandeur welcome to the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) guests arriving to participate into it.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is being celebrated every year since year-2003 in memory of Mahatma Gandhiji’s arrival to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915.

Giving details of the preparations made for the celebration of the PBD, Gujarat’s Finance-Energy and Tourism Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel said, the Gujarat has prepared to relive that century old historical day at the Mahatma Mandir, the venue of the PBD celebrations, and to fulfill Indian cultural tradition of offering ‘Atithi Devo Bhavh’ (Guests are like Gods) treatments to all the NRI guests.

The Minister termed the occasion as to connect Indian diaspora’s knowledge and skill with the nation’s development. A special plan has been chalked out to make this three day long celebrations, to be held between January 7 and 9, as the Mahautsav (Mega Celebrations) in a real sense.

On January 7th, the youths PBD will be organized. It will be inaugurated by Union Foreign Minister Ms. Shushma Swaraj at 10:00 hours. After the inauguration, a plenary session on ‘Bharat ko Jano’ and ‘Bharat ko Mano’ will be organized. Later, a deliberation on ‘Thoughts of Gandhi in 21st century referring to youths’ will be held, he added.

On the same day-evening at 17:00 hours, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel and Ms Swaraj will jointly inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2015. On the occasion, the delegates of ‘Know India Programme’ will be divided into four groups. These groups will visit the PDPU, DA-IICT, EDI and GNLU and there they will make cultural discussions with the students.

Mr. Saurabh further stated that on 8th January Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will inaugurate Pravasi Bhartiya Divas at Mahatma Mandir – which is the special identity of Gujarat, in Gandhinagar. As well as he will dedicate “Dandi Kutir” to the people, this has been constructed as tribute to Mahatma Gandhiji by Government of Gujarat. Then after a plenary session will be organized about various opportunities in India, in that emphasis will be given on important sectors.

Brief discussions will be happened over various programmes has been initiated by Government of India like Namami Ganga, Smart Cities and Urban Development, Skill Development and Tourism Development etc. Rather than this plenary session the subjects like success of Indian Diaspora and Soft Power in India’s Global Engagement will be in centre. Contemplation on “Presentation of Gandhi Thought in the Century” will be happened during PBD Oration. A colourful cultural programme named “Navrang Bharat” will be organized at Kankaria in Ahmedabad on 8th January as well.

After inauguration, at 10.30 AM on 9th January, more than 10 Chief Ministers of various states from India will brief Pravasi Bhartiyas about the investment opportunities in their states. Along with this the parallel sessions of various states will take place. On this day other four sessions also will take place; out of that in the first session the discussion will be take place on the problems regarding labour and employment in Gulf countries. In second session, Girmitiyaz, in third session Francophone Diaspora and the fourth session will be happen on the Role of Indian Diaspora Organizations.

Vice President Mr. Hamid Ansari will present in the closing ceremony of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas and he will honour “Pravasi Bhartiya Samman”. On the occasion of the century of the phenomenon of Mahatma Gandhiji’s come back to India, for making memorable celebration of the thirteenth Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, Gujarat have planned to make it all-round success. At this time all the Indian tourist will witness this memorable occasion to hospitality of Gujarat – the birth place of Mahatma Gandhiji, Sardar Patel and Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
