AMC bulletin on rain and inflow from Dharoi dam

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has shared following details in its official communication regarding the situation of rain and release of water from Dharoi dam:
Today water was released from Dharoi dam in range of 86,000 cusec to start with to 2,00,000 cusec. At 4.30 pm Dharoi dam office was contacted and they said 1,38,000 cusec water was being released. Level of river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad has gone up. All necessary steps are taken by Riverfront project and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) in this connection. Municipal Commissioner called an urgent meeting and issued necessary instructions to various departments.
Due to inflow of water, walkway of Sabarmati Riverfront has been closed. Street lights are switched off to prevent short circuit. Citizens are denied entry to riverfront and constant patrolling is on on both sides of river.
The AMC staff has been put on stand-to mode to close Shahibag, Income Tax, Mithakhali and Madalpur underpasses located on both sides of river Sabarmati, if needed.
Low lying areas located next to river including Juna Vadaj, Keshavnagar, Ramapir no tekro, Shankarbhuvan chhapara, Shantivan, Gyaspur, Vanzar, Shahvadi are alerted and asked not to go to river. School buildings will be used as shelter if shifting of people is needed.
AMC’s garden department cleared 554 complains regarding fallen trees out of 741 complains received as on 4.00 pm on July 29.
Level at Vasna barrage has been 128.50 ft against highest mark of 137 ft level. 24 gates are opened to release the water so that surplus water arrived from Dharoi dam can be accommodated.
Average rain across all zones between 4 pm on 28 July and 4 pm on 29 July was 18.44 inch.
