BJP praises ‘historic’ agreements with Japan

New Delhi

Crediting the “success” of Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe’s visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Act East” policy, BJP today said bilateral agreements on civil nuclear energy, railways and others will boost economy and job growth in India.

“BJP welcomes these historic agreements.” Youth will be the direct beneficiaries of these agreements as apart from jobs created, 10,000 youngsters will also visit Japan in the next five years, said a statement by BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma.

The 16 agreements signed including those related to Make in India, Bullet Train and civil nuclear energy, will prove to be important milestones in bilateral relations, it said.

Through assistance from Japan’s high speed ‘Shinkansen’ system, high speed trains will run in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, which is a historic decision, the statement said.

Japan has also agreed to provide a package of USD 12 billion on easy terms for manufacturing in India and has also expressed commitment to providing technical support, Sharma added in the statement.

The visa on arrival facility for Japanese tourists will also give a boost to tourism in the country, Sharma emphasised.

The statement also mentioned the “positive impact” of the progress made towards the proposed Japan Industrial Township (JIT).

Foreign countries are keen to enter India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative because of the government’s policies of zero tolerance towards corruption and encouraging the manufacturing sector, it said.
