Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel submits her resignation to Governor

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has submitted her resignation today at around 5.00 pm to Governor at Raj Bhavan here.
Anandiben had proposed to step down from the post of Chief Minister two days ago in a letter to party’s national president Amit Shah. Later in the afternoon she made her wish public through video statement and a letter on Facebook.
Today the BJP in its supreme decision making body Central Parliamentary Board took decision to grant Anandiben’s wish and accepted her resignation.
After party’s nod, Anandiben has handed over her resignation to Governor today at Raj Bhavan.
State BJP Chief Vijay Rupani, minister including likely new chief minister Nitin Patel, Gujarat BJP incharge Dr Mahesh Sharma among others walked to Raj Bhavan and remained present when Anandiben submitted her resignation.
Formal announcement on the name of new Chief Minister may take place most probably tomorrow in the meeting of party MLAs in Gandhinagar.
