Gujarat CM dedicates Rs 1677 crore 55 km pipeline at Jasdan under SAUNI project, Ankadia dam overflows

Jasdan: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated phase – 1 link – 4 of SAUNI project by welcoming Narmada waters at Ankadia village of Jasdan belt in Rajkot district.
A 55 km pipeline dedicated today connects Bhogavo – 2 dam to Ankadiya dam of Sartanpar in Jasdan belt. Rs 1677 crore pipeline is 55 km long. Panchal area of Saurashtra is source of most of the reservoirs of this region. Ankadia dam has seen overflow for the first time today after two and half decades, thanks to Narmada water and SAUNI project. So far 21 dams, 48 talavs and 174 check dams have been filled with Narmada water through SAUNI project.
The Chief Minister on this occasion announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Rajkot and inaugurate phase-1 of link-3 of SAUNI project on June 29.
SAUNI is the project to divert floodwaters of Narmada to 115 dams of parched Saurashtra region through a pipeline network. With today’s programme, the first phases of three out of total four link pipeline canals of SAUNI project have been inaugurated within a year. Each pipeline link of total Rs 16,500 crore SAUNI project has been divided into three phases. Total length of pipeline network is 1125 km.
