Adani announces 4 fold increase in Pro Kabaddi prize money to Rs 8 crore

Ahmedabad: Owner of Gujarat Fortune Giants, one of the four new entrants in Pro Kabaddi League this year and Adani Wilmar MD Pranav Adani has termed the 4 fold increase in prize money from this season to Rs 8 crore as a ‘happy surprise’ for his team.
The prize money has been increased to 8 crore from this year (season 5 ) while it was only 2 crore last season ie season 4.
The prize money for winning team has also been increased 3 fold to 3 crore from last year’s one crore. The same for runner up, third and fourth place has been raised to Rs 1.8, 1.2 and 0.8 crores from last year’s Rs 50 lakh, 30 lakh and 20 lakh respectively. Other Individual performance related prizes have also been increased.
Adani in a statement today said that ,’ As a new team in PKL, the announcement of the augmented prize money is an absolutely happy surprise for Gujarat FortuneGiants. The announcement will further drive the motivation and determination of our team to make a strong debut in PKL. Furthermore, should we win the prize money, we will distribute it evenly within the team.”
Notably, 12 teams will lock horns in the PKL- 2017 from July 28. The final will be played on October 28.
18 member Gujarat led by captain Sukesh Hegde also has three foreign players including two well known Irani defenders.
Adani had recently on the occasion of the official jersey launch of the team said that he want to raise the level of desi games like Kabaddi in Gujarat as well as rest of the country.
