Surat:

Police today detained around 40 supporters of PAAS including its local leader and aide of Hardik Patel, Alpesh Kathiriaya for their unruly behaviour during an event of Surat Municipal Corporation in the city.
In the incident a former corporator of SMC Dhanji Chavda was injured also.

The incident took place in Golden city area of Patidar dominant Mota Varachha locality of the city where ruling BJP had organized the inauguration of a garden. Soon after the start of the event, the PAAS hooligans allegedly backed by Congress started shouting and hurling chairs in the air.

They also broke some of the chairs and scuffled with BJP supporters.

Police detained around 40 of them including Alpesh. Injured Chavda was sent to hospital for treatment.

Police said that based on a viral message on social media regarding protest of the event and some intelligence tip off, a large number of force was already deployed at the venue.
