Amul Chairman Ramsinh Parmar becomes Chairman of GCMMF, Bharwad becomes Vice Chairman again

Noted co-operative leader and incumbent chairman of Amul Diary, Ramsinh Parmar was today elected Chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) the umbrella body of all the 18 diaries of Gujarat.

BJP MLA and Chairman of Panchmahal Diary Jetha Bharwad was again elected as the vice chairman of GCMMF.

After the meeting of the GCMMF board at its headquarters here for the election of Chairman and Vice Chairman in presence of the Deputy Collector, Minister and senior BJP leader Bhupendrasinh Chudasama told newsmen that both Parmar (who had switched to BJP from Congress before assembly elections) and Bharwad were elected with consensus.

He said that Banas Diary Chairman and former minister Shankar Chaudhary had proposed the name of Parmar.

To a query he said that all the 18 chairmen had authorized BJP to take a decision about the new Chairman and Vice Chairman yesterday and the board was intimated by cooperative minister Ishwar Patel about the decision.

He said that BJP was a big party and it would find another role for Shankar Chaudhary.

Parmar has replaced Jetha Patel of Sabar Diary as the Chairman. Notably since 1973 all the elections for Chairman and Vice Chairman of GCMMF have been with consensus.

Talking to newsmen after his election he said that he was grateful to all the chairmen for selecting him with consensus. He had been with Amul Diary for long and now along with his deputy Bharwad take forward the journey of GCMMF.

To a query about the bleak scenario of diary sector across the globe he said that milk was an essential commodity and its market was vast.

GCMMF is India’s largest food product marketing organization with annual turnover (2016-17) US$ 4.1 billion. Its daily milk procurement is approx 18 million lit per day from 18,549 village milk cooperative societies, 18 member unions covering 33 districts, and 3.6 million milk producer members. It is exclusive marketing organization of ‘Amul’ and ‘Sagar’ branded products and also India’s largest exporter of Dairy Products.
