Parents meet head of committee formed for fee limit fixations

The representatives parent associations of school going children of self financed schools in Gujarat today met the Chairman of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) A J Shah, who has been appointed as the head of a seven-member committee formed by the state government to fix the new fee limit for self-financed schools and create different categories of fee structure in the wake of the recent Supreme Court order regarding the Gujarat Self-financed Schools (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2017.
The guardians requested him that the fee structure in the act should be kept as it is.
The annual fee slabs prescribed in the section 9 of the act is Rs 15,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 27,000 for primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, respectively.
They also sought representation of guardians in the committee pertaining to fee regulation.
Shah later told newsmen that the guardians submitted their suggestions and also informed him verbally as well that the current fee structures in Section 9 was appropriate.
The Panel headed by Shah will also hear the other concerned sides and then hand over his report to the state government with regard to the upper fee limits
